I turned that borefest off at the 73 minute mark. I'm not a soccer(futball) fan but when it's USA vs Canada I don't care what competition it is. I'd watch Rock-paper-scissors between a hill-a-billy and a newfie for an hour.

In fairness the USA team should've wiped the floor with the Canadian team.
Football is absolute massive in Europe, but hasn't ever seemed to take off in North America. My theory is with the lack of goal scoring action that Football sometimes brings up, when compared to other sports such as American football, basketball and ice hockey. Am I correct in this assumption?

I would compare watching soccer to watching paint dry, the same reason I can't watch golf.
Fly's fucking can be more entertaining. Not my style, plus not growing up with it and being around it doesn't help. First time i encountered soccer was 9th grade. After stating that their conditioning consisted of running for 2 or more hours I said fuck that.

It is an intense sport. Been going to see my local team ever since I was 9, where we managed to get to the dizzy heights of the English Premier League, against the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, watching world class players, before some asshole Russian crook who was bankrolling my club pulled out the investment. Now I'm sure the three of us on here has more money collectively then Portsmouth.
I can't understand the appeal of American football, although I do watch the superbowl final every year, to see if it grows on me. Never usually watch it in it's entirety though, as it finishes around 4 am. Plus I don't like the fact that each team has about 30 players on each side.
On a side note, I do own a Miami Dolphins football helmet from a trip to Florida around 8 years ago.

I think a lot of the appeal in any sport is growing up with it, playing it and fully understanding the sport helps. I like American footbal because of the phsycal side, I played it to release anger and it was amazing. Now watching it can be dull at times and with all the new rules about hitting to hard and all the different ways you can't tackle are making it much more boring. I understand players don't want to end up in a wheelchair but you get paid millions of dollars for that exact reason.
I've only recently started following hockey and it is a pretty amazing sport. I use to think it was boring because I did not know how it was played or any of the strategy behind it. After playing some NHL and getting a mild comprehension, it is a fun and physical sport.
I may have to try futball too.

The beauty of football is that for a game all you need is 2 people and a ball. Which other sport has that freedom? It's one of the main reasons why it's so popular in less economically developed countries.
